Acne Treatment

 

 

The solution to finding an acne treatment that is effective is a customized individual approach. At Gulf Coast Plastic Surgery we make use of several types of treatments to attain the best possible results for our acne patients. Our options include: chemical peels, microdermabrasion, blue light treatments, high frequency, and medical-grade skin care products. Each treatment can be effective, but combining and customizing them to your individual skin type allows us to achieve superior results.

 

Chemical Acne Peel - exfoliates the skin, allowing the dead skin cells to be removed more effectively and thus reducing the number of blemishes.

Microdermabrasion - by using a stream of microscopic, abrasive crystals across the skin, this procedure exfoliates the dead surface cells providing acne control and reducing acne scaring.

Acne Blue Light Treatment - utilizes non-UV light which kills acne bacteria in the skin and repairs cells which were damaged by inflammation. Acne Blue Light Treatment is simple, painless and effective.

 

Levulan Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) - combines a topical photosensitizer agent (Levulan) with exposure to non-UV light. The levulan photosensitizes the skin such that when they are exposed to the light source leads to photo destruction of the bacteria that causes acne as well as shrinkage and destruction of the oil glands. This results in significant improvement in moderate to severe cystic acne. Photodynamic therapy can be used to treat the face as well as other acne prone areas such as the back and chest.

 

High Frequency - emits a mild electrical current that is germicidal, clearing the skin of acne – causing bacteria and unwanted toxins and reducing inflammation.

 

Obagi CLENZIderm® M.D. Systems - the only prescription-strength acne treatments that contain a patented, solubilized form of 5% benzoyl peroxide (BPO) to penetrate deep into the follicle and treat acne where it starts. Available in two formulations for a broad range of skin types.

 

Clarisonic Skin Care Brush - uses a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth your skin. It cleans more than twice as effectively as manual cleansing, reducing oily areas, dry skin patches and blemishes.
