Chin Augmentation

Chin Augmentation is a common Procedure used to optimally balance the chin with your other facial features. An implant placed over the bone structure of the lower jaw to augment the dimensions of your jaw. A weak chin can also make a normal nose appear large and can make a neck appear thicker and fuller.

  • An implant is inserted into a pocket under your chin through a small incision or through an incision inside the mouth along the lower lip.
  • Usually, the chin is taped after surgery to minimize swelling and discomfort.
  • Sutures are usually removed within five to seven days.
  • This Procedure is often performed in conjunction with other facial plastic surgical Procedures.

Patients will wear a chin strap/garment following the Procedure to help the implant heal in the best position possible and prevent shifting in the first few weeks after your surgery.

The end result of this Procedure is a harmonious balance between the structures of your face. Some patients prefer to have Rhinoplasty in conjunction with chin augmentation in order to achieve the best facial balance. The Chin augmentation is also commonly combined with facial liposuction to remove excess fat from under the chin and neck, creating a more defined jawline.
