What is a Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of a woman’s breasts. It is the opposite of breast augmentation. Women with large and heavy breasts can deal with pain across the neck, shoulder, and back, along with difficulty performing strenuous physical exercise. Large breasts can also cause emotional stress, as patients can be self-conscious and embarrassed about their breast size.
How Much Does a Breast Reduction Cost?
Breast reduction surgery costs vary from person to person. To discuss pricing, contact us to schedule a consultation with Dr. Pisarski or one of our friendly and knowledgeable staff. We are proud to provide numerous payment options for our patients, including financing through CareCredit®.
Am I a Candidate for Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction is a viable option for anyone dealing with pain due to the size of their breasts or would like to reduce them in order to obtain a more proportionate figure. A breast reduction can not only improve body image satisfaction, but also help some patients participate in physical activities that they were previously unable to participate in
How is a Breast Reduction Performed?
Breast reduction is done by creating incisions around the areolas and along the breast crease. A third incision is made vertically starting from the areola to the breast crease. Through these incisions, excess tissue, including fat and skin, is removed from the breasts while the remaining tissue is reshaped. The nipple and areola are moved appropriately.
What is Recovery Like After Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction surgery typically takes between two to three hours and is done under general anesthesia. You can return home the day of the procedure, and most patients are able to return to work after a week or two. It might take another few weeks for you to be cleared to return to your normal daily routine. Discuss what you are cleared to do with Dr. Pisarski during your consultation.
How Long Will My Breast Reduction Results Last?
Breast reduction results last for many years, up to a lifetime. Unlike breast augmentation, there is no need for implants, and you are simply removing excess tissue.
