Injectable Filler for Mouth Rejuvenation

Mouth rejuvenation using injectable filler may sound a little ‘Hollywood’ to you. Don’t be fooled, it’s an in-office hyaluronic acid injectable treatment that will have you walking out the door with a more youthful mouth in less than 45 minutes. Trust us when we say that your mouth looks and feels natural. Do not fear the duck-face look! Using filler, we can improve those pesky vertical lines around the mouth, lift the corners, and add projection not just to the lip but the mouth area in general. This is a great treatment for adding back volume you’ve lost due to the natural aging process, or due to being genetically predisposed to thin lips. We can also improve facial proportions if possibly your upper or lower lip is smaller than the other, and enhance your profile by increasing lip projection.

What’s hyaluronic acid?

As defined by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, ‘hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance found in your body. High concentrations are found in soft connective tissues and in the fluid surrounding your eyes. It’s also in some cartilage and joint fluids, as well as skin tissue. It is extracted and reformulated and now has become one of the most popular kinds of injectable fillers. If the term sounds familiar, it’s because the same substance is often injected into the aching joints of people with arthritis to ease pain and provide extra cushioning.’ The HA used in fillers such as Restylane is specifically synthesized to bind and give lasting results from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the type of filler.

How do I know which filler is right for me?

The best filler for you is dependent on the area that you’d like to add volume to, and your desired result. For example, Restylane Silk is designed specifically to provide natural looking results for the lips and mouth by using smaller, smoother HA particles. If you held some of the filler in your hand, you would see that it’s more fluid and not as stiff as other injectable fillers. Other Restylane products use larger HA particles, which makes these more suitable for adding volume to the cheeks, or filling nasolabial folds. These products will be stiffer, or thicker, offering more projection. Think of it like an artist using different types of paint on a canvas to create a painting. Not all paints serve the same purpose. They’re all similar, but some are more suitable for certain areas than others. Please remember that it’s important to be treated by a highly skilled injector like expert Plastic Surgeon Dr. Gregory Pisarski to ensure amazing results.
